Never have democratic conversations been as important as now

More than four months have passed since Russia invaded Ukraine on the 24th of February this year. This invasion continues to cause global heartbreak and destruction beyond belief and is nothing but a direct attack on democracy itself.

In times like these, we must be committed to democracy more than ever. We as the people, we as a company, we as mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters. And if there is one thing that is more important than ever before, it is to engage in open and free conversations that make us understand and respect our differences and each other.

This is why there has never been any doubt from our side in joining politicians, policymakers, NGOs, and industry colleagues next week at one of the world’s biggest political events – the Almedalen Week.

Almedalen Week is an annual political festival that takes place in the medieval town of Visby on the island of Gotland. It was started in 1968 when the Prime Minister of Sweden at the time held a speech from the back of a flatbed truck. What began with a speech and a truck had in 2019 grown into a full week with around 45.000 visitors and close to 7.000 official and unofficial events.

This year, Almedalen Week is back after the pandemic. Einride is looking forward to contributing in the ways we can to support one of the world’s largest meeting places for free and open exchange of views. Especially this year, as there cannot be a more urgent time and place to do so.

Will you be in Visby? Come meet the Einride team. Discuss with us. Challenge us. Share your point of view on the matters you deem to be the most relevant. Most importantly and in the spirit of free and open democratic conversations, let us talk about how together we can make the world a better place.

We are looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing how we can be a part of the solution. Together, we have the power to make the world brighter. All you need is free conversations. And sometimes, a truck.
