Einride and Ahlsell begin collaboration for electrification and automation of transport
Ahlsell, the Nordic region’s largest distributor of installation products, and tech company Einride enter into a partnership to electrify and automate freight. The transports will start in June and are expected to save 40 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions per year.
The initial agreement is in regards to Sweden and covers routes from Ahlsell’s central warehouse in Hallsberg.
“Sustainability is important for us at Ahlsell and we work purposefully to reduce our environmental impact in all aspects of the business, not least transport and logistics. Ahlsell will be a leader in the industry and a driving force in climate change. The first step for us is to become completely fossil-free. The collaboration with Einride is very exciting and an important part for us on our journey forward both in terms of moving towards electric, and also eventually autonomous transport,” says Claes Seldeby, CEO of Ahlsell in Sweden.
Einride was the first in the world to operate an electric, self-driving truck on public roads for commercial purposes in 2019. Today, the company offers a platform for electric and autonomous shipping and works together with customers such as Coca Cola, Oatly, Lidl, SKF and Electrolux.
“For us at Einride, it is important to work together with like-minded companies, who dare to invest in new technology to solve old problems. Ahlsell has long had the leadership jersey in its industry and through innovation and collaboration has introduced more sustainable solutions for builders. The company is one of the Nordic region’s largest buyers of logistics, so we are extra happy that they are now focusing on transport and proud that they have chosen us as a partner on the road,” says Jonas Hernlund, Chief Commercial Officer at Einride.
